Heads up: This post includes product recommendations based on my own experience. There are no affiliate links here yet โ just honest reviews of things I actually use.
My hair is a project. Highly porous, wavy-curly, color-damaged from years of lightening and dye, prone to frizz in humidity (which is always, in India), and in an awkward growing-out phase because I decided to stop straightening it. So when I say a product genuinely works on my hair, I mean I have put it through the worst conditions possible.
The Plix Hibiscus Bond Repair Leave-In Hair Mask is one of the only products in the Indian market at this price point that actually does what the label claims. If your hair is damaged, curly, wavy, or just plain frizzy, you should know about it.
What it claims to do
Plix markets this mask around two ingredients:
- K18 Peptide โ a peptide that supposedly repairs broken bonds in the hair shaft caused by chemical damage (colour, bleach, heat styling)
- FiberHance โ a proprietary ingredient that claims to strengthen the hair fiber from within
Whether these two do exactly what the marketing says at the molecular level โ who knows, brands say a lot of things. But functionally, what this mask actually does to my hair is real and noticeable.
What it actually does for my hair

- It straightens my hair without heat. This is the main thing. I used to straighten my hair multiple times a week with a flat iron, which is how I destroyed it in the first place. This mask smooths and elongates my waves enough that I do not need to pick up the iron. That alone has saved my hair.
- It reduces frizz dramatically. Humid Mumbai/Bangalore/Delhi summer days used to be a non-starter. Now I can leave the house.
- It makes my hair feel stronger. Less snapping when I brush. Less breakage on the shower floor.
- It smells nice. Subtle, clean, not floral-grandma.
- It is vegan and sulfate-free. Worth mentioning if those things matter to you.
The one thing I have to warn you about
This is a leave-in mask. You apply it after washing, do not rinse, and sleep with it on if you want the best results. Here is the issue for me specifically:
I have extremely sensitive, hormonal skin. When I sleep on my pillow with leave-in hair product, some of it migrates to my cheeks and face overnight. The next morning, I notice that my dark spots and hyperpigmentation on my cheeks are worse. The hibiscus and peptides are working for my hair, but they are triggering something on my face.

This is not the product’s fault โ it is not designed to be a face product. But it is a real consideration if you have sensitive, reactive, melasma-prone, or PCOS-hormonal skin like mine. So here is what I do now:
- I use it less frequently โ maybe once every 10 days instead of twice a week
- I use it on days I can either rinse it out after a few hours OR sleep with my hair pulled back and up, away from my face
- I wear a silk bonnet or use a silk pillowcase on nights I have it in
If you do not have overly sensitive or reactive face skin, you do not have to be this careful. Most people can leave it in overnight with no issues.
How to use it
- Shampoo and condition as usual
- Towel-dry hair until damp (not dripping)
- Take a pea-to-almond-sized amount depending on hair length
- Apply from mid-length to ends โ avoid the scalp
- Comb through with a wide-tooth comb
- Let it air-dry or diffuse
- Do not rinse. Sleep with it in, or wait at least 3-4 hours before doing anything else.
Who this is for
- Color-treated, bleached, or chemically damaged hair
- Curly and wavy hair that fights with frizz
- People growing out straightened hair who need a heat-free smoothing option
- Highly porous hair (if water and products just disappear into your hair, you are porous)
- Anyone who wants a leave-in treatment that actually makes a visible difference
Who this is not for
- Very fine, flat hair โ this might weigh it down
- Very oily scalps โ be careful not to get product near roots
- People with extremely sensitive, reactive facial skin who cannot control the transfer-to-face issue (or who do not want to use workarounds)
Where to get it
Here is the Plix Hibiscus Leave-In Hair Mask on Amazon India. At 50g, it lasts a long time if you are using it sparingly on mid-lengths and ends.
This is one of the very few hair products I consistently repurchase. For damaged, porous, frizzy hair at this price point, there is very little else that competes.
Feel better, without becoming a project.
Note: If you have scalp conditions, allergies to plant-based ingredients, or very sensitive skin, patch-test any new leave-in product before applying all over. This post shares my personal experience, not professional cosmetology advice.
